What is the best option for starting a weblog?
Q. I'm looking to start a weblog, and at present I have two options: using a service like Blogger, or hosting it on my site using an open-source solution. Both clearly have their advantages and disadvantages.As someone who wants full control over the way the weblog looks, but also wants the best possible exposure, what would be the best solution?

A. I would suggest if you have to do it for free then use a site like free-site-host.com and installing wordpress via applications and then you can customize everything. Otherwise a paid service is the way to go.

A. Yes! most definetly! In fact it probably already comes with one. I'm not sure which blogging software you are using but almost all of them have this feature and it's turned on by default. Check your blog's options in it's control panel.If it's yahoo's "360" blog, unfortunetly, it counts anyone logged into yahoo as logged into your blog. but I beleive you can set it so that only people on your freinds list can view it. Not exactly a graceful way of doing it.

A. Yes. I use it to post fiction and keep in touch with other writer friends around the country. I don't think it is appropriate to go around just posting questions and answers that directly link to your blog indiscriminately but if a topic is relevant to your blog then I guess it would be ok in that sense. A. If your blog is set to "friends only" and you don't have hundreds of people on your list then it might not be a horrible idea. I would seriously reconsider posting it on a public blog though. You just have to realize that anything you post on the internet is in effect "lost". You put it out there and you can't take it back. If you're okay with that then by all means, go ahead.
